Tigers turn to 3B Koskie

With Troy Glaus in Arizona, the Tigers have turned to Minnesota Twins free agent Corey Koskie. Koskie hit .251 with 25 home runs, and 71 RBIs last season. He has also seen playoff experience, something the Tigers would like from a veteran.

It is also reported that the Tigers have upped their offer to Carl Pavano from four years to five years. Two major reasons for Pavano's continued interest in the Tigers is Hall of Famer Al Kaline and manager Alan Trammell. "I can't tell you how influential meeting Al Kaline was for Carl," Shapiro said. "He was thrilled at Al's taking the time to sit down with him. And Carl and Tram hit it off," Shapiro said of manager Alan Trammell. "Carl walked away saying, 'I could play for this guy. I would go to the moon for this guy. He's a terrific person.' "

We should start to hear signing news today or tomorrow.
