Tuesday Sports Wrap-up

Ordonez Watch Update, Sign Six

With the Cubs reportedly near a deal with Jeremy Burnitz, the Tigers might be in a position to land free agent outfielder Magglio Ordonez without any competition.

While waiting, the Tigers have signed Curtis Granderson, Byron Gettis, Ryan Raburn, Roberto Novoa, Fernando Rodney, and Mark Woodyard to one year contracts. Previously, they were all protected on the Tigers roster, which gave the Tigers the option of renewing their contracts if they were unable to reach an agreement.

One Last Effort

The NHL is going to give it one last effort. They have come up with an adjusted salary cap offer for the NHLPA. This offer would call for a $32 million floor and a $42 million ceiling, plus a 50-50 profit sharing plan.

This is the last offer than the league will make. The players should take this. It is the best offer that has been given so far.
