National Signing Day

College football national signing day has arrived, and Michigan and Michigan State are preparing for their commitments. Among the elite, Michigan is expected to announce a powerhouse class that could rank as high as second in the nation. Michigan State is expected to make a big impact from players coming out of Junior College.

Among the signings for Michigan will be highly anticipated Antonio Bass, Marques Slocum, and five star running back Kevin Grady.

Bass comes from Jackson High School. His coach, Jack Fairly, said he was the best athlete he’d coached in 20 years. He chose Michigan over LSU, Michigan State, Notre Dame, and others. He runs the 40 in 4.44 seconds.

Kevin Grady, a 5-10, 230 lbs running back, comes to Michigan from East Grand Rapids. He’s a hard worker, and runs the 40 in 4.5 seconds. He has high expectations for himself, and should be a terrific backup, and replacement when he leaves for the NFL, to Michael Hart.

Marques Slocum comes from West Catholic in Philadelphia. He’s 6-4, 331 lbs, and runs the 40 in 5.06 seconds. He has natural size, and is the best two-way lineman in the state coming out of high school this year. He has a lot of potential, and has started strengthening himself.

It is a great recruiting class once again for the Wolverines. With the depth at running back, Michael Hart coming back as well as Max Martin ( who looked good when he did spell Hart ), I could see Grady getting a redshirt year. Bass sounds like an exciting guy, much like Breaston, so it will be interesting to see if they use him immediately to help spell the loss of Edwards or if they redshirt him as well. Slocum could help on the O-Line to help replace Bass, or maybe on the D-Line to help depth there. But, to me, it seems the O-Line needs more help. Later - T.S.D.

Definitely one of Carr's strengths is his recruiting. I'm curious to also see how MSU pans out today. I'll try and post updates as the commitments come in for both schools.
