Gutierrez Checks Out

Former Detroit Tiger Cesar Gutierrez is dead at the age of 61.

Gutierrez was a Venezuelan shortshop who tied an American League record for consecutive hits without an out in 1970. In a game on June 21, 1970, Gutierrez had six singles and a triple in seven at bats.

Gutierrez was with the Tigers from 1969-1972.
