No Glaus for the Tigers

Ken Rosenthal of the Sporting News is reporting that Troy Glaus has agreed to a four year, $45 million contract with the Arizona Diamondbacks. Given that Glaus has seen some injuries, and has never exceeded the mid-.250 batting average range, I'd say the Tigers were lucky not to have him for that price. Brandon Inge is still around, has a better bat, comes at a cheaper price, and is capable of playing third base.

This signing doesn't mean the Tigers are done looking for a replacement third baseman. There are still others out there. Adrian Beltre. Corey Koskie. I'm not overly confident the Tigers will sign either of them though. Koskie has been offered arbitration, and I'm having trouble seeing the Dodgers and Beltre part company.

Reactions to this? Other alternatives? What do you think?
