Preview - Detroit Pistons at Dallas Mavericks

The Pistons make their final stop on their western conference outing. Detroit will take on the Dallas Mavericks at 8:30 PM EST. Dallas is 12-6 on the season. Their team isn't much different from last season in terms of what they're all about. Dallas is averaging 95.6 ppg, and giving up an average of 99.3 ppg.

The key to this game is to contain their offense, specifically Nowitzky. If they can guard the perimeter, and cut down on the second chance points, they should be able to shave 10 points off their average.

On the other side of the court, the Pistons must execute their inside game, and hit their free throws. They simply cannot afford to have a scoring drought against a team of this caliber.

Prediction: Pistons 89, Mavericks 85

49-39 at the half. The Pistons are taking care of not only the perimeter, but also the inside game.

They need to get better from the free throw line. Rasheed Wallace has missed 3 of 4 shots, Chauncey has missed 2 of 8. They cannot expect the Mavs to stay on ice in the 2nd half.

Defense, and continuing to attack inside is the key to the 2nd half. Stay on your game, Detroit. Adjust to the adjustments the Mavs will make, but do not let them change the mood of the game.

After three quarters we have an 81-63 pounding by the Pistons.

Delfino looks good, Tayshaun has had some momments, Rip and Chauncey are scoring points, Ben is taking care of the interior, and the story of the game is Rasheed Wallace. He's keeping Nowitzky in check, and still making some noise on the offensive end.
